* 'Run like a sailor's dick'
Most often used by players who topped their tee shots and are desperately hoping for it to pass the ladies tees. This is not advised if there is a woman in your foursome. If this is the case, try "Run like a three year old's nose."(BC)
* 'Touch of Christie'
Playing a full wedge from 50 yards or selecting a 3 wood on the first at tapton.(BC)
* 'Banana ball'
Extreme slice or hook.(BC)
* 'Dale Winton'
A putt that goes both ways.(TF)
* 'Knee Knocker'
A significant putt of around 3-4 foot which must be holed and is crucial to the match in hand. Causes the legs to shake and thus the players knees knock together.(SF)
* The Shanks
A condition dreaded by golfers the world over. It possesses a player suddenly and wreaks havoc causing the player to “Shank” the ball, almost at right angles, off the hossle of the club. Very tricky to cure.(SF)
* 'Elephants arse'
A shot that is high and smelly.(TF)
* Elephants arse is high and ugly not smelly.(BC)
* 'Call the cops, you've been robbed!'
When a putt should have dropped in but didn't.(TF)
* 'Hamburger'
A duffer / hacker.(TF)
* 'Hooking hell!'
When an opponent hits the ball ridiculously to the left.(TF)
* 'Played like Fletcher'
To play shite for a whole round but still manage to shoot your handicap.(CC)
* 'Played like Christie'
To play shite for a whole round and shoot well over a 100.(SF)
* 'Worm raper'
The result of a poor swing causing the ball to career perilously along the ground at a vast rate of knots.(SF)
* 'Sparrow raper'
The result of a poor swing causing the ball to sky high into the air endangering any sparrows within a close proximity.(SF)
* 'Wiped its feet'
An expression used when putting. When the ball rolls tantalizingly round the hole and threatens to lip out but, to the players obvious delight, it drops snuggly to the depths.(SF)
* 'Dancefloor' ('Your Dancing')
The green (Informing ones playing partner that he has successfully reached the green with his last shot). (SF)
* 'Big Dog'
The driver.(SF)
* 'Chicken Stick'
Completely neglecting the big dog when standing on the tee and opting for the use of an iron.(SF)
* 'LPGA swing'
Putting a 50% swing on a shot to limit any damage and increase accuracy when one is going through a spot of bad form.(SF)
* 'Girth'
A generic term for extreme length e.g. "that had some girth on it" or "good girth".(SF)
* 'Is your husband playing today Mrs (name of player)?'
Asked of your playing partner if they are extremely short of the hole with their putt.(SF)
* 'Virginia Wade'
Fade.(SF)
* 'Captain Cook'
Hook.(SF)
* 'Duffer/Hacker'
Term used to categorise those golfers who are not blessed with a great amount of skill and sit in the lower echelons of the golfing world.(SF)
